LLP offers selected clients publishing consultation. What does this entail?

• Guidance in getting new writers published
• A Manuscript Review is carried out on each title, highlighting areas of strength and weakness.

• Formatting of Word files
• An ISBN* assigned to each title enabling it to be sold through bookshops worldwide
• Worldwide distribution of your high quality book
• Book made available on the revolutionary Espresso Book Machine (available in major cities around the world - prints books while you wait!)
• Free copy of book
• Professionally designed cover
• Advice about promoting and marketing your book (book signings, talks, media interviews etc)
• Monthly** sales reports so you can monitor how well your book is selling
• Copy of publication forwarded to the British Libraries (legal requirement)
• First year's digital storage fee paid
  

*For legal reasons, the ISBN has to remain the property of the publisher (Local Legend Publishing), and cannot be transferred to another publisher, but clients are free to publish their work elsewhere (at the same time, if desired) using a different ISBN.

** It takes several weeks for new titles to fully integrate with the worldwide distribution service, therefore, regular monthly reports will commence after the third month of release.

Consultation fees are £300 per title (£315 for authors outside the UK and for those paying by Paypal - a requirement of overseas authors), payable upfront. This is a non-returnable fee, as once an agreement has been made to proceed with the consultancy service, work will commence on your book through to publication. Once published, clients are not tied into any further contract and are free to withdraw their title from print and distribution at any time. In order to reduce unnecessary time delays, overseas clients are required to pay fees via  PayPal (a PayPal account is not required, but it will enable clients to transfer money easily, and safely, using debit or credit cards if they do not already have a PayPal account). This is also an optional method of payment for UK authors.

During the pre-publication stage, refunds for cancellation will only be given at the discretion of the editor/proprietor, and will be proportionate to the amount of work already carried out on the book.

Clients will be provided with a full set of terms and conditions prior to signing an agreement for the consultancy service. Where authors are under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must represent the child when signing agreements and they will be held accountable for the payment of fees, if applicable.

NB: Some clients will be offered opportunities to have their work published free of charge - special conditions apply (e.g. winners of competitions where the prize is to receive a free publishing contract).

Optional Publishing Services:

Local Legend Publishing will only publish work which meets certain standards. Sometimes clients may be advised to carry out further work on their manuscript to bring their writing up to standard. As we are not a traditional publisher, we cannot offer this work free of charge, but we are able to recommend highly competitive professional editors/proof-readers to you (these services are paid directly to the service provider). Clients are also free to source their own editors/proof-readers.

We will only deal with completed manuscripts. Do not approach us with just an idea.

In the first instance send a brief covering letter (email) and request a Submission Form. You will be forwarded a form to complete which should be returned along with 2-3 sample chapters.
